Disappointed diners have bid au revoir to a French restaurant which has closed after nearly a decade .Scena Bistro, in Rodney Road, Cheltenham.

will be replaced by a Swedish eatery, which is due to open

at the end of the month.
Christophe Poirier opened Scena Bistro nine years ago.
With a different dish from each region of France each month, food lovers could chose from Normandy sausages to mussels.

Christophe and his wife Juliana going back to France to set up a guest house.
He said: "I've enjoyed my time in Cheltenham and will miss my customers but I wanted to move on to a new challenge in the sun."
The popular Frenchman will be updating customers on his new venture via a blog.

Hugh Dunsmare-Hardy, 60, of Montpellier said: "I've been to Scena Bistro with my partner on a monthly basis for the last three years and we were very disappointed he's going.
"We holiday in France on a regular basis and when he is established we'll look him up."
The Rodney Road premises are being given a rustic Swedish makeover and will open as Svea Cafe and Restaurant on October 22.
It has been bought by Birgitta Sanger-Davies, who used to work in the office at the White Hart Inn in Winchcombe
